About Us
It started with two people, a roll of Merino wool and a basic idea that people prefer quality in anything around them like we do. We wanted to feel good about what we do…and we just figured people actually want to feel good about what they buy. Founded by Holger Graf and Daniel Lantz in 2008 and inspired by Holger’s German heritage and Daniel’s love for the Japanese ideas of less, but chosen, we work with some of the world's earliest, most durable and sustainable materials, Merino wool, Vachetta leather, Hemp and Canvas. Using the finest Merino wool, Graf Lantz brought fun and style to the once overlooked miracle fabric to bring joy to all of our products.
The Name Behind the Brand
Holger Graf, with a Ph.D. in structural engineering, and Daniel Lantz, who immersed himself in Japan’s Shokunin craft traditions, brought together their unique perspectives to create Graf Lantz in Los Angeles. Inspired by a shared love for craftsmanship and unconventional materials, they began reimagining Merino wool—a heritage textile—into refined, modern forms. This vision has grown to include colorful explorations in leather, alpaca, and hemp, each piece designed to endure and evolve beautifully over time, balancing art, function, and sustainability.
Our Values: A Commitment to Heritage and Quality
At Graf Lantz, we honor the misfits, the overlooked, and the uncompromising. With a focus on mindful, sustainable design and high performance, we offer a carefully curated collection of wool, leather, organic cotton, linen, and canvas products. Inspired by German precision, Japanese perspective, and California soul, our pieces work subtly yet powerfully, elevating and inspiring through their lasting impact.
We reject the culture of built-in obsolescence, redefining prestige by prioritizing lasting function, versatility, and unwavering quality. Our products are crafted from the finest sustainable materials to look beautiful, feel exceptional, and perform well for years to come.
Our Mission
“We didn’t start with a mission—it evolved alongside us. Keeping things simple, natural, and different was all we knew at the time. Now, it’s everything we care about. It touches every aspect of what we do—how we make what we sell, choose materials, and value the relationships that shape each new day. Whether that mindset feels trite, profound, or something in between is up to others to decide. What matters to us is knowing what got us here—and we have the proof. We're sticking with it: carving our niche, connecting with like-minded people, and treating every day like it's our first.”
Our Materials
At Graf Lantz, we believe in the power of mindful, sustainable design and high performance. Our unique collection of Merino wool, Vachetta leather, organic cotton and canvas is driven by a simple mission: to elevate and inspire.
Blending German precision, Japanese innovation, and California spirit, we craft a diverse range of products that deliver both subtlety and lasting impact. At the heart of it all is our heritage textile, Merino wool—renowned for its unparalleled protection, luxurious feel, and sustainability.
Commitment To Sustainability
Sustainability has become a broad and often vague term, but it’s something we've been committed to for over 15 years. For us, quality goes beyond a well-crafted bag or a functional coaster—it is inseparable from sustainability. It encompasses every part of our process, from sourcing materials and how they’re made, to honoring the people whose art and passion bring our ideas to life as Graf Lantz products. We pursue sustainability not only as a matter of efficiency but as a matter of conscience. It’s a journey we know will never truly end. Each day, we are determined to do what we can because it’s good for the soul, good for business, and simply good sense.
Our Production
Graf Lantz is a home and lifestyle accessories brand based in the historic Silverlake district of Los Angeles. Our entire collection is designed in our studio, where a small, like-minded team of rebels works proudly outside the status quo. We’re dedicated to design that considers the provenance, utility, and longevity of every product that leaves our doors. It’s our team that makes Graf Lantz possible. We partner with trusted local manufacturers, many of whom we've worked with for years. As we grow, we’re proud to support our long-time team members who wish to start their own ventures, helping them take the next step while keeping the majority of our production local. This personal commitment allows us to stand behind the quality of every piece we create.
