The Outline of Graf Lantz

How a moment of observation in the Los Angeles studio gave rise to our signature die-cut pattern.

Discovery

Our signature pattern wasn’t drawn on a computer. It was revealed in the quiet negative space left behind on the cutting table—the subtle geometry formed in material offcuts. Where conventional manufacturing saw leftover waste, our designers saw an unexpected silhouette worth preserving.

An observed outline became a lasting reminder: thoughtful design sees possibility where others see empty space.

Material Honesty

In our Los Angeles studio, every design begins with raw, natural materials—German Merino wool, vegetable-tanned leather, and cotton canvas. Guided by a Japanese appreciation for restraint and German engineering precision, our philosophy is simple: honor every inch of what cut.

By elevating negative space into a structural design hallmark, we minimize waste while creating objects built to endure.

More intention. Less waste. Beauty in all its forms.
