Q&A

I don't know where I've been for 57 years that I've never heard of wool coasters. Maybe I've seen "fabric" coasters but immediately dismissed them because I just knew they'd soak through onto the surface of furniture. I have an OCD issue with keeping things pristine and coasters are on every flat surface in my house. I have had antique pieces ruined because of sweating soda cans (my sister is still in trouble!). Please tell me how I can trust that heat or moisture will not wick its way through and come out the bottom of this wool coaster? To have a quiet working cushioned stylish colored coaster would be a dream come true ♥ I've also had one wool sweater in my life and it set my skin on fire even with a shirt underneath. Maybe that is what's blocking my understanding, too.
Hi Tracy! We chose Merino wool felt for coasters due to the durability and functionality of the material. Merino wool felt can absorb up to 30% moisture and still feel dry to the touch. First, our felt quickly absorbs moisture away from the surface and into the body of the felt. Then, through a natural process called wicking, moisture is continuously drawn outward along the fibers where it turns to vapor in the tiny air spaces created in the felting process. From there is a short trip back to the surface where it evaporates away. Our coasters do a fine job protecting surfaces, however, if you are concerned about antique furniture, we suggest testing our coasters on another surface first.
