Merino wool

Merino wool comes from a specific breed of sheep, prized for fibers far finer than standard wool. That fineness is why it performs the way it does: soft against skin, naturally temperature-regulating, and durable enough to outlast most other natural fibers. It's the material Graf Lantz was built on.

Nature engineered the original performance fabric.

How It Performs

Great for All Seasons

While wool is often seen as a winter textile, Merino wool adapts to every season, offering warmth in the cold and breathability in the heat.

Wicking that Works

Merino wool is naturally hydrophilic, absorbing up to 30% of its weight in moisture without ever feeling damp. It pulls moisture away from the surface, wicks it through air pockets in the fiber, and evaporates it quickly, so the material stays dry to the touch.

Lightweight

Merino wool's spring-like fibers create small air spaces, giving he material volume without extra weight. The result is something light yet durable: substantial functionality without bulk.

Strong & Durable

Merino wool's fibers are flexible and resilient enough to bend 20,000 times without breaking. They withstand heat up to 300°F and extreme cold, stay color-rich, and even help neutralize formaldehyde.

How It Feels

Soft & Scratch-Free

Unlike coarse wool, Merino's ultra-fine fibers flex gently against the skin instead of scratching. The result is soft, itch-free, and comfortable for everyday use.

Odor Resistant

Merino wool's natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties keep it fresh with minimal washing. Its fibers contain acids that inhibit mold, mildew, and bacteria growth.

Stain & Dirt Resistant

Merino wool naturally resists stains. During dyeing, fibers are sealed, creating a protective barrier, so most marks are residue caught between fibers rather than true stains. A quick spot clean with mild soap and warm water is usually enough to lift them.

What It Stands For

Sustainable & Renewable

Merino wool is renewable, biodegradable, recyclable, and mulesing-free, meaning the wool is sourced without a controversial practice some sheep farming relies on upon. Sustainability isn't only about sourcing but about longevity: items built to last mean fewer replacements.

Oeko-Tex® Certified, Non-Toxic Dyes

Graf Lantz Merino wool is dyed with Oeko-Tex®-certified, non-toxic dyes, ensuring vibrant color without harmful chemicals: no residue, no odor.

How to Keep It

Every material we use is chosen in part because it asks very little of you. A quick spot clean, an occasional wipe down.
